I think that there is no doubt that when you begin to connect to the rest of the world through the weird wide web you soon appreciate what an incredible situation it is to be able to speak to someone in Manila on messenger one minute and then talk to your sister in San Francisco on Skype the next.

I did think that this was the pinnacle of communication and surfing for strange and useless information was the ultimate pastime. That was before I discovered the concept of taking your Internet connection with you. I purchased a small cheap laptop four months ago and connected it via a cheap pay as you go mobile broadband hook-up, and it opened up yet another brave new world for me.

I spend a lot of time on the road, but now I can communicate with anyone anywhere, basically for free. If I’m bored I can surf the web for news or the latest sports results, I can play games with people on the other side of the globe during my lunch break while they are relaxing before going to bed.

Taking the computer mobile changes a person’s perception of being in contact with the rest of the world at any time in any place. In an increasingly isolated world, mobile connections to the Internet keep me in contact with the world at all times.
