American League Baseball Teams: 2006 Season Preview

The two most storied teams of all American League Baseball Teams are the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. The New York Yankees have been consistently winning the American League East for the past several years that they are generally considered a lock to make the playoffs.

Only one team is usually ever good enough in the West and Central which makes the Red Sox a virtual lock for the American League Wild Card.

I believe the 2006 season will be different. The Indians and White Sox will both make the playoffs. One of them will win the division while the other will win the Wild Card. With the Indians young lineup and pitching staff, there is no reason to believe that they should not be getting better this year. The White Sox gelled all year last year and did it with small ball and strong pitching. Their pitching is going to remain in tact and so long as they continue to play small ball, they will remain at the upper echelons of the American League.

With two teams making the playoffs from the AL Central, that leaves only one team coming out of the AL East. We believe the Red Sox will win the division. The Yankees are slowly deteriorating and without a solid farm club, they will remain mediocre to good all year next year.

The American League West is going to be dominated by the Los Angeles Angels for a while. The Oakland Athletics firesale is starting to catch up to them. The Rangers still cannot get solid pitching to compete. The Seattle Mariners pitching friendly park is going to keep their offense weak.

We have uncovered many baseball betting systems that work for all American League Baseball Teams league wide. Win money in the 2006 season.

Protect Your Eyes With Biking Sunglasses

If you like riding your motorcycle or enjoy biking in general, you will really benefit from wearing biking sunglasses. Not only do the biking sunglasses protect your eyes from the sun and make it easier for you to see, but these sunglasses made for cycling or motorcycling also protect you from the wind and bits of dirt and dust that fly around.

Although biking sunglasses are mainly for fashion, they are essential for any biker that has sensitive eyes or wear contact lenses. Most cyclists wear goggles, and motorcyclists wear helmets, but many of them also wear their regular prescription sunglasses as cycling sunglasses. Oakley was the first company to come up with designer sunglasses such as biking and cycling sun glasses. They have truly polarized lenses to offer the best clarity of vision, which you need when you are on the road.

Since Oakley came out with its line of designer sun glasses for those involved in outdoor sports, many other designers have jumped on the bandwagon. The latest line of biking sunglasses to hit the market make you look like an insect with the design of the frames. Cyclists like them though because they are tight fitting and offer the protection that they need. These cycling sunglasses are really expensive and are used mostly by people that engage in professional cycling, such as the Tour de France.

Many cyclists or motorcyclists do not pay the high prices of designer biking glasses, which could run you $500 or more. According to the experts an ordinary pair of wraparound sunglasses does just as well. If you want biking sunglasses for when you ride your motorcycle, you would benefit from a pair of Oakley Sun glasses because they are so strong. With cycling, though, you are usually not going fast like on a motorcycle and don’t have to worry about debris blowing into your eyes.

Some of the brand names associated with biking sunglasses, in addition to Oakley, include such designer cycling sunglasses as Bolle, Rudy Project, Native, Adidas and Zeal. Most of the designers claim that their style of cycling sun glasses comes from their own racing experiences and what they wanted in the line of sunglasses. With each of these you can choose from different varieties of frames and colors of lenses. Most of the lenses are plastic so that they will not shatter easily if you get hit by something as you are cycling.

So if you need biking sunglasses you have lots of choice.

Throckmorton targets beginners and high handicappers with exciting new golf instruction system

Former PGA Golf Professional, Ben Throckmorton, is preparing to release what he calls the “Ultimate Golf Instruction System.” This exciting new golf instruction system is entitled “How To Break 90 in 3 Easy Lessons.”

Throckmorton, with his golf instruction series, is taking direct aim at players of all skill levels including beginners, high handicappers, senior players, juniors, and women. Throckmorton created this system to help players of all ages annd skill levels significantly improve their golf scores.

“There are two types of instructors out there,” Throckmorton said, “golf swing mechanics and feel good guys.” “The golf swing mechanic breaks the swiing down into tiny little bits and pieces and then expects a beginner or high handicapper to be able to put all the pieces back together which is a daunting task at best.” “The feel good guys like to telll players that all they need is a new gadget or gimmick to improve.” While both types of instructors can be well meanning, neither is able to consistently improve players of all skill levels.”

“Despite the amount of instruction and aid available to players increasing at a fantastic rate, average handicaps have failed to improve over the last 20 years.”

My question to Ben was, “Why is that?

“Most golf instruction is created with good players in mind, good players being those who already understand the golf swing and play a good game of golf.” “These players already have a feel for delivering a solid and square blow to the ball and can apply these advanced concepts to their games.” “If you’re not one of these players who is hitting long, straight shots consistently, or if you happen to be a beginner, most golf instruction is useless to you because nobody teaches you how to develop this feel that will allow you to deliver the golf club squarely to the golf ball time after time.”

“My system teaches timeless fundamentals and reinforces those fundamentals by showing each player how to develop and maintain his or her own feel for hittiing quality golf shots within the framework of solid fundamentals.”

“The goal being to teach players of all ages and skill levels how to build their own swings from the ground up and then be able to consistently produce that swing on the golf course with a minimum of practice time.” “This is very important because most of us simply don’t have the time to beat balls for hours each day.” This is why I’ve developed the system to maximize distance, consistency, accuracy, and score based on 1 hour of practice time weekly.”

“How to Break 90 in 3 Easy lessons is “easy’ to use, “easy” to understand, and “easy” to apply to your own game.”

The three lessons are broken down into Set-Up, Full Swing, and Short Game with a special added lesson that features on course strategies guaranteed to save you strokes.

Throckmorton’s golf swing system includes detailed written instructions with corresponding full page illustrations for every facet of the golf swing including set-up, full swing, chipping, pitching, putting, sand play, and special strategies. To reinforce the book and illustrations, Ben has also included video footage of himself explaining and demonstrating each portion of the system.

Here is a short excerpt from the Full Swing portion of How To Break 90 in 3 easy Lessons.

-Okay, we’re almost there, the moment of truth, when the club head makes contact with the golf ball. We’ve discussed static positions that you should be in as you swing the club away from the ball hopefully placing you in a balanced and powerful position from which you can deliver a square blow through the golf ball, in turn, producing consistently long and accurate shots with every club in your bag.

But wait, you say, golf is NOT a static game. In fact, the only thing in golf that IS static is the ball. It remains motionless until you hit it. It’s not going to move, it’s not going to run, you can do anything that you want to it before you hit it BUT once you’ve hit it, there’s nothing more that you can do except go find it and hit it again. Your swing however, is a living, breathing, dynamic, motion and therefore it is very difficult to apply static positions or measurements to it.

Let’s say for example, you swing the club head through the ball at 75 mph. Tiger Woods swings at speeds of 135+ mph with his driver but most of us mere mortals can’t generate that kind of swing speed so let’s just use 75 mph for conversation sake. You say to me, Ben, if my club head is moving at 75 mph, the same speed I drive my car on the freeway, how in the world am I going to know if I’m finding the proper in-swing positions for me?

A very good question if I do say so myself. The answer to your question is you have to FEEL these positions and then reinforce this FEEL mentally by hitting good shots.

Remember when I told you that the quickest way to spoil a good swing was to aim the club in the wrong direction? Is this starting to make sense? If not, don’t worry, it will before we’re finished. I know you’ve seen them, they are everywhere, instructors. They teach hands high, hands low, push, pull, turn, all sorts of positions and concepts but without the feel to go with these concepts, it’s all worthless. It’s worthless simply because the swing happens much too quickly to apply static positions to it. You have to feel it to be able to reproduce it on a consistent basis. “It,” being your swing.

This dynamic concept of feel is one that is very hard to explain and even harder to teach. The only way I’ve found for the average player, high handicapper, or beginner to feel the proper motion is to get out on the range with a club and a few balls and swing away. Without the feedback provided by the flight of the ball, none of this will mean anything. We’re just talking and all these static concepts are meaningless.

We have to put these static positions into motion and be able to reproduce them at speeds in excess of 75 mph. Sounds impossible doesn’t it? Never fear, just read on. I promised you in the beginning that you would shoot the best scores of your life and you will.

Cheap ATV Tires – Adventures For Slashed Prices

In my garage you’ll find (admittedly among a rather unsightly long since forgotten piles of sundry items): one truck, small in stature, but large in heart; one motorcycle, poor in starting capacity, but rich in non-running memories; and finally one cool 4 wheeler, that needs neither my silly description nor your having to strain at considering how much fun it is. An odd little something has come to define my relationship with these three machines. Although the greatest amount of affection goes towards the ATV and is the vehicle that driven the hardest, a level just slightly above “none at all” has gone into the consideration towards its tires.

This oddity is further complicated by my understanding of the importance that tires play in the safety of other types of vehicles. Very little thought is needed to go into the realization that cheap ATV tires can bring forth as much trouble as those on any vehicle. In fact, given the wide variety of terrain that ATVs are driven on and the wide varieties of styles in which they are driven attention to the tires seems all the more imperative.

And its true, without proper purchase considering terrain and driving style, or even worse yet, the blatant purchase of cheap ATV tires, the is unquestionably an accident waiting to happen. In regards to the cheap ATV tires that should be avoided at all costs, this is due to their inability to handle the real world surfaces found anywhere off your driveway. With the potential ruggedness of the land the cheap ones will lead you a probable flat tire of a frustrating stick in the mud. With this in mind, the tires of all your vehicles must garner equal attention, even if your feelings for the vehicles themselves do not.

George Murphy can help you find discount tires online. Be sure to read the latest about cheap ATV tires.

Investing in the Poker Casinos

As the global stock market has evolved, so too have the trading practices. One of the areas international investors have been looking at closely as of late is the online gaming businesses and poker.

Currently, the market value of the online gaming and poker industry is estimated at around 10 billion USD and is expected to grow to closer to 100 Billion in the next 10 years.

And that, according to onlinecasinoreports.com is a fairly conservative estimate. If all goes well, and the poker companies continue to trade at around 15-20% of their earnings, the potential for growth could potentially reach 2 Trillion USD.

While the passage of the UIGEA in 2006 caused stock in the industry, at least in the US, to drop drastically, they have been on a steady climb as a whole despite the recent 2008 downturn.

Some economists call these companies an investment oasis in a time where the rest of the market is struggling. As far as short versus long term investing goes, market indicators show that these investments are most suited for longer term goals, as a dramatic short selling could actually drive the prices down substantially.

This is especially true for US investors looking for long term safe havens for their cash. And in a market where the credit crunch is hitting doubly hard with the falling housing market, it seems that assurance and confidence is just what these investors need.

Bowling – The Basics (The Game)

Bowling is a fairly simple game. There are 10 pins and you knock them down on two balls per frame. Here is some basic information about how the game.

The Game

So what comprises a game you ask?
10 Frames (actually 12, but we will cover that later)

So what is a frame you ask?
One or two balls, depending on what happens on your first shot, except the 10th when you may throw three balls.

OK, so 10 frames of 1 or 2 shots, this should be easy right? Nowadays with the electronic scorekeepers it is, but it wasn’t always that way. I actually used to keep score manually for tournaments bowlers, and get paid to do it!

Frames

There are 10 frames in a game of bowling, with one caveat. If you get a strike or a spare in the 10th frame, you get another shot. So, up to 3 shots can be thrown in the 10th frame of a game. At the risk of making this more confusing, if you get a spare, you get one extra shot (you have already thrown the ball twice this frame), but if you get a strike, you get 2 extra balls, thus you get 3 balls in the 10th frame if you get a mark (a strike or a spare).

Strikes and Spares

What are those words that you hear pouring out of bowlers mouths like “I got 6 strikes, 3 spares and missed a ten pin for an open!”? Strikes, Spares, Splits, and Opens are the fundamental results of throwing the ball down the lane.

Basically a “strike” is when you get all 10 pins down on the first ball. A “spare” is when you get all 10 pins down on two balls in the same frame. An “open” is when you don’t get all 10 pins down on two balls in the same frame. When you “pick up” a spare, you were able to knock down the rest of the pins on the second ball in the frame (you never “pick up” a strike).

A “Split” is a little more complicated. A split is when you leave at least two pins that are separated by where another pin would have been (see diagram above). So, if you leave the 4 and 5 pins (the 4 -5 split), you would have a split. The worst of the splits is the 7 – 10 split. These are the two pins that are farthest from each other on the lane and is almost impossible to hit.

Keep bowling and having fun!

The Interesting History of Kayaks and the Sport of Kayaking

The first kayaks were created thousands of years ago by arctic inhabitants now known as the Intuits. These early indigenous people, formerly known as Eskimos, inhabited areas of Greenland, the northeastern point of Russia, Alaska, and the uppermost regions of Canada. Early Eskimos made kayak frames using driftwood, and early kayaks were wrapped in sealskins. Early kayaks were virtually unsinkable with air-filled seal bladders. These early kayaks were used during summer months primarily for hunting and fishing. The word “kayak” literally means “hunters’ boat.”

Early kayak design varied according to the specific needs of inhabitants of particular regions. For instance, early kayaks designed by inhabitants surrounding the Bering Straight created wider, shorter kayaks. This kayak design provided a large area for storing game and supplies, and it was more stable on rough water than the longer more slender kayaks designed for speed by the Aleuts. Kayaks were designed to remain upright on rough waters, and the design of the kayak enabled kayak users to right themselves if turned over by rough frigid waters that would otherwise prove deadly in an open craft.

Europeans eventually discovered the versatility of the kayak, and kayaks once designed with sealskins were designed by Europeans with fabric covers. In 1905 a German inventor named Hans Klepper eventually purchased a design for a folding canvas kayak from a German student. He called this kayak a “foldboat.” Klepper began selling this early version of the folding kayak, and kayaks once used primarily for navigation and hunts by indigenous people were now being used for sport.

In 1936, kayak racing became a part of the Olympic games in Berlin. Kayaks were used in an event called “flatwater racing.” Kayak clubs began developing all over Europe, and kayaks became more and more popular as time went by.

The 1950’s brought the development of the fiberglass kayak, and a company known as Valley Products began producing the first fiberglass kayak. This fiberglass kayak was known as “Anas Acuta.” Valley Products went on to design another kayak called the “Nordkapp.” This model could handle more cargo while remaining tight and maneuverable. Just as early Eskimos designed kayaks, modern kayak designers also designed kayaks according to regional needs and preferences.

Plastic kayaks were introduced in the 1980’s, and kayaks continue to become lighter, sturdier, and more versatile. Now there are several types of kayaks designed with various materials suitable for a variety of sporting events. Those who love the sport of kayaking have more choices now than ever before.

Gambling Articles on the Minnesota Timberwolves: Early 2006 Season Analysis

All of the gambling articles two years ago spoke about the resiliency of the Minnesota Timberwolves and how they were an incredible 70%+ against the spread (ATS) off of a loss. With personnel problems last year, their resiliency lacked. Changes were made this season to put them back at the top.

With the NBA in its six-division alignment, the Timberwolves have an easy trip to the playoffs. Easy if chemistry doesn’t tie them down like it did last year. So Kevin McHale did away with Latrell Sprewell and Sam Cassell, brought in Sonics assistant Dwayne Casey to be head coach and gave Marko Jaric control of PG. All has worked out perfectly so far; the Timberwolves are reaping the rewards with their 12-6 record. Can it hold?

Many players are playing great and better than they were last year, mainly Kevin Garnett whose 22.0 PPG, 10.3 RPG and 4.8 APG make him an MVP candidate. Szczerbiak is scoring 17.4 from his 15.5 last year, Hudson is up to12.4 from 8.7 last year and even Michael Olowakandi is scoring more with 7.6 a game. So much was placed on Sprewell and Cassell last year, who scored a tiny combined 25.7 PPG last year.

The biggest need for improvement so far is Marko Jaric who is producing 10.2 PPG, but is being out-assisted by Garnett. Their two draft-picks, G Bracey Wright and C Dwayne Jones, have developed so slowly that they became the first NBA players to ever to be sent down to their NBA D-League affiliate. KG isn’t getting much help on the glass; although he is getting double-digit rebounds the T’Wolves are 28th in the League in rebounding. For whatever reason, Minnesota felt compelled to give Nikoloz Tskitishvili a contract and he’s now asking to be traded since coach Casey hasn’t played him once this year.

The team is producing and playing better than last year when Cassell and Sprewell hampered the team to its doom. Jaric isn’t getting as many assists as he should, but at least he is taking care of the ball with the Wolves turning it over just 13.1 times a game. Casey has brought a far better defense than last year when they allowed a mediocre 95.3 PPG. This year they’re 3rd in Points Allowed, forcing their opponent to just 91.2 PPG.

The Wolves rely heavily on Kevin Garnett. If he happens to get injured or is traded away later in the year you can kiss Minnesota out of the postseason. They aren’t particularly deep in any position especially Center. But Minnesota is playing a controlled fluid game that they just didn’t produce last year. Portland, Seattle, Utah and Denver have been last-place playoff teams at best for the last few years. We know that Minnesota can make the playoffs since a similar version of this team won the #1 seed two years ago. We don’t know if they can do it without Sprewell and Cassell. Nonetheless, they are playing substantially better right now than at any point last year. If it continues, they are an easy playoff team.

Nike Basketballs

Nike, unlike Wilson or Spalding, does not create equipment exclusively for basketball. For this reason, Nike basketballs are not quite as popular among basketball pros and aficionados as the Wilson or Spalding. Basketball professionals may not quite swear by Nike balls, but they still have their own fan following, owing partly to their wide variety in snazzy designs and colors.

The Nike NBS 200, for example, is thought by many to be the best indoor basketball. It has a soft core that creates a bounce delightful to the basketball buff, especially on smooth, synthetic indoor courts. It is light and soft, and many players love the “throw” it affords. But the NBS 200 is not considered as durable as the Spalding basketball, since it loses it’s bounce after a few weeks of constant use.

What is good about Nike, though, is the sheer range it offers when it comes to colors and designs. Go to a website like Amazon.com, and it becomes clear at once. The Nike 1000 All courts Pearlized model is silver, with a shiny mirror-like surface. It is a good training ball, although not recommended for league matches or rough play. That does not stop basketball lovers from purchasing it, owing to it’s flashy looks. Amazon retails it for $23 (size 7). The Nike Lebron James All Courts basketball, on the other hand, is available in a combination of three colors: red, black and white. It sells for $25 on Amazon, though the price varies depending on the website and retailer.

The Nike 2000N Touch has a smooth, shiny appearance and retails for $40 on websites like SportDepot.com. The Nike Cage Grip, as the name suggests, has a meshed appearance, facilitating a better grip. SportsDepot retails it for $24. The Nike Shatter is available in a combination of three colors: red, white, and blue or black, red, and yellow. It has a rough appearance, owing to a grainy synthetic leather surface. It is good for both indoor and outdoor play, and costs around $30.

Nike also manufactures basketballs for outdoor play, like the Nike 1500. It is available in men’s (size 7) and women’s (size 6) NBA recommended dimensions.

Basketballs provides detailed information about basketballs, imprinted basketballs, and more. Basketballs is affiliated with Hockey Goalie Equipment.
