People believe that wearing pearls on their wedding day will bring bliss to their marriage.
Pearls are classic wedding jewelry. How do you choose the perfect Pearl Necklace Jewellery?
Pearls come in 4 different types: Tahitian, Akoya, Southsea and Freshwater. Akoya, Tahitian and South Sea pearls grow in oceans. The pearls that come from the sea are more valuable due to their rarity.
The most popular pearl is the Akoya pearl. The Akoya pearl is the classic round pearl with a mirror like finish.
As with any other gemstones, the value of pearls is determined by their quality.
A pearls quality can be A, AA, AA+, AAA, AAA+. If you have two pearls the exact same size, an “AAA” quality pearl would be much more expensive than an “A” quality pearl.
There are six criteria for the quality and value of pearls, they are nacre, luster, colour, surface, size and matching.
Nacre: The pearls nacre thickness is very impoprtant when buying pearls. The pearls nucleus has a coating which is produced by the oyster, it is this that is called the nacre. It is the nacre that is the main difference between how long a pearl will last. Pearls that last longer usually havce a nacre thickness over 0.4mm.
Luster and Surface: When a pearl has a reflective surface this is called the luster. A strand of pearls with high luster, mirror finish and clean surfaces is most desirable and valuable.
Colour: When buying pearls and choosing a colour it is really down to what would suit your clothing ans skin tones.
Size: The size of a pearl increases in value the bigger they get, so it is really down to your own budget as to what you can afford.
Shape: Pearls come in all shapes and sizes but it is the round ones which are the valuable ones.
Matching: When buying a pearl necklace jewellery set you will need to look for jewellery sets that have the pearls matching as near as possible. The more pearls that match in a piece of jewellery or jewellery set the higher the price will be, down to the difficulty of finding matching pearls.
Once you have made a decision on what you want it will all then just boil down to the budget that you have. Take your time to shop around and find that perfect pearl necklace for your wedding day or special occasion.
