Leicester indie giants Kasabian have revealed that they are working on a batch of new material, which apparently resembles Pink Floyd.

With Oasis out of action, Kasabian have stepped up a level. The band accompanied the Manchester giants on their enormous British tour and seem to have gained a taste for playing to huge crowds.

Recently completing a massive headline arena tour, Kasabian are toasting a successful year which has seen them release an acclaimed new album. ‘West Ryder Pauper Asylum’ was a concept album of sorts, soaring straight into the UK charts at number one.

Never a group to rest on their laurels, Kasabian have confirmed that they are already at work on new material. Special to online radio station Dabbl singer Tom Meighan revealed that the Leicester group already have a “beautiful” batch of new material.

“(Guitarist) Sergio (Pizzorno)’s got a body of work already, its very ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’, Pink Floyd,” the singer revealed.

“(It’s) very essential and very beautiful, piano-based songs that sound beautiful and we’re going to really grunge them up a bit.”

Kasabian are still touring heavily. After finishing their festive dates across the nation the band are due to take a short break before flying off around the world. Admitting it would be some time before the new material would be recorded, Tom Meighan claimed the songs are “nearly there”.

2010 could turn out to be a big year for Kasabian. The band have been confirmed as headlining Scotland’s T In The Park event with many more festival dates due to be announced.
