There used to be a proverb, If it is brown, don’t where it to town. This was all about the pair of trainers a man would wear to the office. Those days the formality scale not established of yet. In the times of tighter men’s fashion standards, brown shoes would never be accepted in places they are right now. Back in the days of tighter men’s fashion standards, brown shoes would never be accepted in places they are now. Brown shoes were often left for the less formal affairs and if a person wore those shoes to the office it was taken that he was that he wasn’t totally committed to the work day ahead.
The office and formal standards have relaxed in colors as we see more shades of blues and grays enter the workplace. This opens up the world for brown dress shoes as they can certainly compliment lots of the colours seen in business formal clothes today.
One rough rule to recollect when it comes to wearing men’s brown shoes is that shoes ought to be darker than the trousers. In other words, don’t wear tan shoes with navy blue trousers.
The most significant thing to remember is that regardless of how new, or how primitive, the fashion standards are, black shoes will always reign as king at formal affairs. But brown does make a nice duke.
